YDA Christmas Party 2021 Highlights
YDA Christmas Party 2021 was successfully held on 18th December at Crowne Plaza Hong Kong Kowloon East. Many YDA members attended the party, and the scene was very lively!
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Youth Diabetes Action, we set the dress code of red, green and white, which not only made the scene extra Christmassy, but also corresponded with the colours in our logo. Outside the banquet hall, there was a Christmas tree and rainbow booths for participants to take pictures. There were a variety of Christmas cards at the registration counter for children to write and send their wishes, thanking their doctors and nurses for their attentive care over the past year.
We invited Nurse Iris from Children’s Hospital and YDA member Cindy Siu to bring a wonderful dance performance. The audience were mesmerised, and some members hoped to perform on the same stage with Nurse Iris next time! We also invited YDA member Sit Hei Yin to perform the diabolo for everyone.
Santa Claus is a must for every Christmas party! Santa Mario didn’t disappoint, he brought with him a wonderful magic show, and invited guests on stage as his little assistants. It was a lot of fun!
Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the YDA and the 100th anniversary of the invention of insulin, we prepared a series of small games to make the Christmas party fun and educational. Many gifts were distributed through lucky draws and mini-games, and the children went home carrying lots of Christmas presents.
As the party came to an end, the children gave the medical staff a special Christmas gift – a succulent potted soap made by themselves. The doctors and nurses expressed their heartfelt gratitude.
The Christmas party has always been the most anticipated, and favourite, event for members. It felt extra special to be able to hold it in-person under the current epidemic. Special thanks to the Stacy Chan and family for their sponsorship and support. Hopefully see you next year!
